ABSTRACT:

Additive manufacturing (AM), also called rapid prototyping and rapid manufacturing, is a process of adding material to make objects from 3D model data. In selective Laser Melting (SLM), the heat source is a laser and the metal powder is selectively melted to form each layer. This technology is encountering growing success in aerospace and biomedical fields due to their advantages of producing prototypes and finalized parts rapidly and cost-effectively whilst controlling both internal and external architectures. It is also a tool to develop news lightweight materials. It is in this context that the present study is being taken. Indeed, our work is focused on developing a comprehensive understanding of the process-micro/nanostructure-properties relationships of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy produced by Selective Laser Melting. Particular attention will be devoted to mechanisms of micro/nanostructure formation.
